Don't even hope for any similarities^^
Not gonna happen
MuvLuv Unlimited and MuvLuv Alternative both have more emphasis on social situations than actual battles (Well, in MuvLuv unlimited, we actually nevers saw an actual TSF vs. Beta fight, dunno about MuvLuv alternative, but that one has a bit more emphasis on fighting)
But MuvLuv alternative total eclipse is much more of a bloody story (watch the anime of it, you'll understand in no time), including lots of gore, tragic (and painful) deaths and plenty fighting (guess this one's gonna get a tragedy tag sooner or later, maybe a horror tag as well)
hmm, I watched the anime recently...
And two things were different in the anime:
1) The whole prologue, describing how Yui "graduated" (3 years before chapter 1 started) was omitted
I have no idea why, as it is an important part (guess it's gonna be done with flashbacks)
2) The Type-99 cannon was a LOT more powerful in the anime^^
But as they already omitted the prologue, I am kinda wondering if the artist/author of the manga adaption simply didn't want to include these scenes...
(I may be wrong, but that's the feeling I get)

(with a tidbit of story change ...)
(Muvluv -> Muvluv Unlimited -> Muvluv Alternative -> Muvluv Alternative: Total Eclipse)
So why hasn't Muvluv been translated? xO!
