Description: A lonely "demon lord" and a self-centered "hero"!?
What about "villager A", caught in the middle!?

This is a school that prepares people for roles in fantasy stories. However, those who possess the "traits" of a "warrior" or "wizard" are but a few. Most will become no more than mere "villagers". I, Satou, am also one of those "villagers"; but one day, a girl possessing the trait of "demon lord", Ryuugamine Ouko, set her eyes on me. She's short and a surprisingly calm, good girl, but she'll abruptly mutter about destroying mankind; give me a break. Taking up the opposition with passion is my childhood friend, Hikarigaoka Tsubasa; she's more trouble. This girl is also quite the beauty, but as soon as she makes up her mind, she's an absolute troublemaker...

This is a world that's slightly abnormal,
with a slightly abnormal cast, interwoven in their dilemmas; a slapstick comedy!

adaptation of the light novel series written by Yuuki Rin with illustrations by Akahito

I know it's part of the gag, but this society seems disturbingly like an Orwellian dystopia. It's rather messed up.

Aren't Personas just autistic? They display incomprehensible behaviour (at least incomprehensible to "normal" people around them) and aren't able to communicate with "normal" people or even perceive their words.

Aren't normal boring? normal people exist to make the incomprehesive people shine.

If it wasn't for the little detail of their delusions of grandeur being real, I'd say it leans more toward a high rate of paranoid schizophrenia. Autism isn't a catch-all for every behavioral oddity, and both Hero and Demon girls show signs that they get the normal social rules and cues but just don't care. Mostly because part of their roles means transgressing those rules.

Though really once we're trying to compare it to any real condition, we're already thinking too deeply about a series whose main gag is "video game characters must seem completely insane to NPCs."

Also I have a theory on who Saito San really is ... he is either the Player 1 or the Protagonist persona. It would explain a lot.

Obviously he's the somewhat less common Perspective Character persona, which sprouts from those occasional stories where the main character is not the Hero but instead an overshadowed follower. Hard to tell apart from a Villager except in how he keeps moving in vaunted circles despite his apparent mundanity. Perspective Characters still get a surprising amount of attention from the opposite sex since their role is to be a normal person's vicarious yet relateable experience of an adventurous life, and have the hidden option to be upgraded later.

I have to re-read too. That teacher really is useless ... but hot damn is she YUM. She is just really good at manipulating the students especially Sa-Villager San A.

You're trying to tell me that a character that interacts with the most prominent entities in the story and even attracts them could be a protagonist?

Surely, you jest, dear sir.

"Oh don't mind me, I'm just gonna use my dipstick to check your oil level."

I Honestly just view him as the sage character. Besides there are NPC's and then there are NPC's... I.E. there are those trash mob npc's that are a dime a dozen and mostly say the same things (I used to be an adventurer like you...) or the cool NPC's that actually give you quests... Or even better yet THE NPC'S THAT HELP YOU COMPLETE A QUEST!

I'm just thankful he's not that irritating npc that you have to protect on some quest... Those are the most annoying. Oh and he's not NAVI thank goodness...

I always tend to forget this one and re-read some chapters and always get the same conclusion, the teacher sucks, although it's the normal part of the adult are worthless in manga, but this one appears a lot and doesn't do shit, at least in the other cases they don't even appear.

I can find raws up to chapter 30 and don't think that was the end since it gave a date for the next chapter.

It is complete at 5 volumes, just need to figure out how many chapters per volume.

i thought it was 23 then maybe 33 or 34? but this finished like two years ago.

edit: so it was 34. sorry for the confusion.

i think they'll finish up the last 5-6 chapters soon. would be pointless to stall the ending indefinitely.

Oh so there is only a few more chapters to go? That makes me both excited and sad. We will get to see hopefully how this wraps up. Im hoping they all get transferred to the same world or something lol

It would be interesting if Satou had the ability to enable personas to alter their predetermined fate.

Two things:

One: you'd think the little brother would have warned them about his sister's state of undress. His reaction when telling them she was in "maintenance" mode strongly suggests he knew about it... hell, he probably found out the same way they did.

Two: As we're all still throwing out guesses about what makes satou different, or more specifically what "role" he has that makes him different, here's my opinion: We don't have enough information to know if villagers have their own set of npc personas in this setting, so I can't with confidence say he has a specific role or class. I can, however, say for sure that he's an important villager. He's the villager that, intentionally or not, gives you important information that you need to continue your journey. Information like where to go next, or how to surpass an obstacle, or where to find a quest objective... Instead of telling you how to find the town's potion shop... which he's standing in front of.

Essentially, he's the npc that has information the player will actually care about, which is why personas hear him clearly.

I kinda feel like villager-san has an important "hidden" persona. Maybe it's something like "King"? =/

mecha musume for WIN ...

BTW, that page 17 ...

I think each robot have their own parody series ?

I notice one from GaoGaiGar, and Ore no Aruji, ...

Megaman was in there too (the doggy robot)

You can't help but find this tragic; it's the fate of all personas to be transported to their respective fantasy worlds once they've reached adulthood. That means our protagonist will never see either his demon king or his hero childhood friend. There can be no happy ending for him since normal villagers will remain in this world.

So, is it back for real or are we gonna have to wait until September for the next chapter? 6 months is a very long time for one chapter.

Releases depend entirely on whether or not our translators/editors are busy with life. Sad to say our editor releasing DAT QUALITY is busy with life so not much we can do about that. Know anyone capable of DAT QUALITY and want to release fast? Well our doors are always open! Or another group can take over...*shrugs*

Finally they addressed the issue of information. For someone living in Japan to know nothing about robots... No, for someone living in the modern world to know nothing about robots is absurd.

Aw hell yeah.

IT'S ALIVE!
