The MC is a boring, self interested workaholic. He doesnt want to commit to relationships with others. He is only slightly more interesting than Daichi from House Magic, but that isn't saying much. Personally I hope slaves constantly get forced upon him so he is forced to deal with shit he doesn't want to.

Nope. He is reclusive as he probably lost someone important and after that some people are stopping to look for any kind of relationships just to not hurt themselves again. And I wouldn't call someone self-interested who free the slaves and help them look for a job, so they wouldn't economically depended from him.

Oh my.. raw came out for chapter 6 and didnt exactly expect this kind of chapter.

Whats with the name change?
I liked the Exterminator better.

What does make me confused is this approach towards slavery.. i guess if its closer to "bound to a job without payment" kind of thing i might understand it.. but.. Maybe if slaves are treated "normally" way better than we assume and abusers are exception rather than a rule.. otherwise only thing that comes into my mind is that the voluteerish and "calm" attitude is somehow related to that slave crest which appears to be magical.

Or maybe im just bloody overthinking it and should just shrug, forget and go with the flow.

About the slavery, the main point is magic. The status of slave seems that is connected with magic and they are treated like the things(Note that after MC found slaves, they had to follow him and if he didn't allow them, they were discarded "things" waiting for someone to "pick them up") Also only the master can release the slave, so probably some people were used if they got into the wrong hands who wouldn't want to lift that status.

I think its just fine that we have some well mannered elder lady in the group. At least its fresh atmosphere and im actually thankful this didnt follow the wn if Tel really is like some scarlet woman stolen from a coctail party. For those who still aint satisfied with this, just think of her that she runs around without makeup at this moment. elder (elf?) slave maid.. just pray she wont apply some makeup, topple Naoki and show him some magic called "experience in bed".

Honestly I was more referring to the fact that at the end of all of that the seemingly random side character, and an old lady at that, joins the main cast. They already had an "old lady" in this series revealed to actually just be another pretty girl in disguise, so the fact that an actual elderly woman joined the main cast (and is already proving more likely to stick around than his other actual slaves) just baffled me. Didn't emphasize that well enough. Most literature of every kind, but especially comics, seem to try to avoid having anyone old (especially older women) be a core part of the story. No idea what led to this author's apparent change of heart here.

The lack of any reaction to slavery still somewhat surprises me, especially since this is the second or third time already that they've made very pointed commentary on how terrible slavery is in this world, but you're not wrong that isekai is the most slave-happy genre out there. Hell, isn't there a whole series that pops up here every other week or so whose whole core concept is that some dude got summoned and the slave magic used on him backfired so he has two obnoxiously fanservicey women with him at all times?

Ah yeah the companion choice is unusual, agreed, especially with the slave wanting to jump in bed with from the start it looked like she would tag along as harem member. Someone on reddit commented "Damn mangaka, in the WN Tel (the maid) is depicted as a hot mature lady.

The series you mean is https://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/isekai-maou-to-shoukan-shoujo-dorei-majutsu-r15950I think but at least I guess it is treated as something they are trying to fix. There is an Isekai that literally has slave harem in its name.^^

Not evil .. okay.

But they taste bad.

xD

They're the inbreed rubbish eaters od dragons.

Now take that thought and aim it towards all of the chickens, cows, and pigs that are rapidly bred together to meet our demands :D

I didn't climb my way to the top of the food chain just to eat tofurkey After all!

I don't know why people are calling that being unpredictable, this is an isekai. Isekai protags love slaves and while half of them do beat up slave owners to collect slaves others are quite happy to just trade with them. It is the most slaver friendly subgenre I know. (Best  known example is probably shield hero.)

The setting is somethng we have seen before. The stuff that actually happens is not that predictable. Unless you are saying that all isekai all the same. Shield Hero was initially unpredictable, but as he got his harem, it became predictable. This guy actually left most of his harem behind, which i don't remember, when i've read something like that before.

Then again it's only the 5:th chapter. It has time to become predictable.

Unfortunately, the image is too small for me to fully appreciate how adorable this creature is...

>new arc

>introduce an elderly maid side character and her scummy slave trader boss

>have MC pull off the job so well he could basically bankrupt the trader

>MC doesn't stop the slave trading

>MC doesn't actually bankrupt the slaveowner

>MC doesn't even free the slaves he saw, actually beat one unconscious

>takes elderly maid with him as payment

>elderly maid is now a part of the main cast

What the fuck did I just read? Is this really Japan?

Not complaining, though, at least it's not predictable.

You have my condolences, you can be sure that if I was "able" to "acquire" a "lifesize" one, come hell or high water I damn well would.

Seems that the author has a thing for elder girl. After Kamira (who was a fake but anyways), here comes the new girl for the harem \o/.

I would not be suprised if

Spoiler

It is not the author has a thing, he just wants to give us an enjoyable and adult read.

collect old granny maid as a slave. Thats a new one. Usually isekai always get young or busty maid as slaves.

Saying wyverns are evil is racist!

I mean, just look at this adorable creature!!

I wonder how Sera would react if she founds out that Naoki visited that mansion full of slaves and that he didnt free them.

I don't think she'll really care about that. She'll most likely make a fuss about Ayl and Tel accompanying him though

Nope for a long time. MC will keep collection women thou. but he only care about his adventures.

"Not my job, not my problem." Seems like a perfectly reasonable reaction.

Yup.

Who would risk they're life and waste they're time saveing others?

There's most likely a reason your a slave and except "justice" loveing idiots no one cares.
