This reads like a beautiful combination of Sakigake!! Otokojuku and early JoJo's Bizarre Adventures (I'm reminded most of Jonathan). Everything about it was hilarious and brilliant, exactly the kind of story I've been looking for. In the modern era, it's hard to find a battle manga that still makes you give a shit about the characters. I cared about every single one of Kongou's crew. Many people complain about the lack of good MCs with a spine. Kongou has enough spine for the entire shounen genre. The story had me reading start to finish, one sitting - and worth every minute. Goddamn 9/10, will read again for inspiring tales of manliness and badassery.

Also holy crap I would NEVER have guessed this was the same author as Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai, they're so friggin'... different. I only noticed it because of a translator's note near the end. Much respect to the author.

Gave it a shot but it's just not my kind of thing despite liking the theme about delinquents. Its just so bad and over exaggerative at times. Lasted 20 chapters. Also whats up with the tattoo fetish the author has.

One question remained.....

Where did Ourou Banchou and the Wolf Fang go?

An epic if not ridicules tale of manliness and justice. A must read.

P.S. Bedros, you sir are a beast among scanlators, I admire your dedication. Not as OP as OMAS once was, but close my friend, very close.

Decided 'Alright, I'll give it a try'. I did not expect the sheer epicness that this story contained.

Stick around, and dig in, cause once this manga spools up, it blazes out of control like you wouldn't believe.

Worth it. Totally worth it.

I'm not going to read this tonight, but everyone's outright affection for this manga has convinced me to read it soon. I want to fall in love with it, too!!!

Wow... how did I not know about this manga sooner. This is EXACTLY what I am looking for in a delinquent comedy manga. Wow.

Thanks for the translations!

It was a great read, overall.

Still the part that made me laugh the most

Spoiler

This was quite a bit of fun to read. A nice closure as well. Appreciate the TL Bedros.

This was a very very very satisfying read. It was silly at time but overall it was awesome.

This was really nice. The manga sticks with what it started and doesn't deviate into anything unworthy. Plus the ending was wrapped up nicely, giving us insight on everything that happen later and the conclusion of the last fight.

Of course, there's illogical stuff against scientific reason, but in any case, this manga was targeted to a younger audience, the setting itself was already beyond reason, so one shouldn't ponder much about this stuff.

Much thanks to bedros for bringing this series. Kongou Banchou ftw.

Guys, I don't know if you realized, but Kongou Banchou would be PERFECT for being turned into a Beat 'Em Up. If you get creative with some movesets you could easily assemble 20-30 characters. Do it in the style of "JoJo: All Star Battle" and I would buy it at any price.

And this is why Hikyou Banchou is the best.

Just finished this manga, and I now have two things to say:

1. To Suzuki Nakaba and the scanlators (and to Bedros for posting it here), thank you for bringing such an awesome manga to us all.

2. WTF did I just read? o_O

Gay Batman was awesome

on so many levels

you think he's beaten, you think they've won and there's no possible way he could recover, thennnn boom they're crawling away with their tail between their legs whimpering in terror

Hikyou Banchou pulled it off far cleaner and more plausibly than so many other manga.

definitely one i'll re-read

Aw man, just found this today and went through the whole thing. It was so freakin' worth it. ; ;

(Uh, this is from* the same guy who's doing Nanatsu no Taizai. :> )

Don't think I've ever finished this. Been a while. Great time to re-read the whole damn thing!

This is so awesome! I am surprised its not as famous as the other well known manga.

Love this logic:

http://vatoto.com/read/_/88432/kongou-banchou_v2_ch8_by_banchou-scans/14

So maybe it's just the hair and the mask and the acrobatic fighting style, but I have to wonder is Hikyou Bancho was influenced by Robin (1)/Nightwing.  See: http://vatoto.com/read/_/93790/kongou-banchou_v9_ch78_by_comeback-scans/7.

Maybe I just read too many comic books.  Of course, Nightwing is the eye-candy for his comics, too... ;)

http://vatoto.com/read/_/102541/kongou-banchou_v9_ch85_by_comeback-scans/14 - I won't recognize such unscientific ideas.  Says the woman who is shape changing her entire body and genetic structure with her mind, and incidentally, creating mass from nothing.

And apropos of science, specifically biology - how the heck did Kongou Senior reproduce?  I guess Kongous grow their entire lives, but in that family photo, where Soara is a baby in her mother's arms, he's still huge.  It just... Physically... That is....

This is over-the-top shounen battle-manga at its finest.
Sure, it was often dumb, some character were inconsistent, the power levels were fluctuating like hell and it was often ridiculously contrived and/or cheesy, but god dammit it nailed the most important aspects perfectly! I came for an awesome battle-manga and got just that!
A likeable main character, insane and often silly powers, larger-than-life battles, nakamas, funny comic relief... I would say there are many mangas that do the individual aspects of this series much better, but this is the single best mix of them I have ever read.
Five stars! :D
Started reading this a couple of weeks ago just finished was awesome from beginning to end
This was to awesome.
Salamat mga indoy ug inday ug sa imo Suzuki Nakaba sa pag-palipay sa akong kaugalingo. I love to hear more of the adventures of the future banchou jr. :D
This manga also teaches us to punch the crap out of women if they act like bitches lol. 10/10 manga would read again.
