The seventh (and supposedly last) volume of this series will be released in Japan next month.

UPDATE 2017/11/24 - It is indeed the last volume, and the last chapter is #42.

I knew it instantly what kitashiro case was, but that last cliffhanger gave me a "wtf are those lights for!??"

 

although maybe Shinonome was sparkling cause it has to be more with what they were talking about than love towards him. I want to know D: !!! 

cause if not, and Shinonome has real feelings for him, the author just made a mess for Kitashiro, and that's not cool at all.

Nice question.  In the meantime, this series is now up to five volumes in Japan.  The six chapters scanlated so far are the entirety of volume 1.  Volume five runs through chapter 30, and does not appear to be the end of the story (from a quick glance).  I would have to go through the effort of translating it to declare for sure if that is all.

 

I may be scanlating a chapter of something every 4-6 days, but that doesn't mean I can just casually read a random manga and get the full meaning right away.  Reading Japanese is still work for me.

What happened to the updates? T_T

Are we all fairly agreed that we like Kitashiro the best?

Hmm.. If i had to really guess. He is not seeing the sparkles of love. He is seeing the sparkles of attraction. Like in those Shoujo manga. You know when a character sees someone in beautiful array of sparkles? When you truly love someone those illusions go away. You no longer just see the sparkles you see the true deepness of their soul. Why add illusion to something you already love as much as possible?

He sees sparkles where girls are in love.

 

This annoys him, to an extent.

maybe kitashiro doesn't really want/love sensei the way she believes she does. I mean the light could just mean "I want to be with you." which explains why yadogiri and shinonome both shine, despite the difference in their intentions w/ him. but kitashiro doesn't believe that she could even get him to date her because she doesn't sparkle, it's like she relies on these lights as a confirmation of her feelings towards sensei. if she sparkled for him, then she believes that he would date her. but since she doesn't, then she has no hope, she doesn't even try. I don't think that she really WANTS him, but she believes that she does want him, so she denies that the lights are a sign of love. she won't believe that they are lights of love until the day that she begins to sparkle for him too.

I may be a bit cynical about this theory, but...

What if the light is just a visual manifestation of a woman's sexual pheromones?

 

First, It doesn't happen at all with men, so either no man can feel love or attraction like woman do or what he sees is only what women are able to produce (you may say girls fall in love really hard and all that, but not even high or middle school boys could sparkle a bit?).

 

Secondly, the sparkle only appears on woman who are actively trying to seduce a men (since they aren't in a relationship yet, she needs to use pheromones for the flirt to occur) or in newly couples (the type you would see a lot by walking on the streets). In a long relationship, there's no need for pheromones in their daily lives (except in a sexual situation), since the man has been seduced already. Meanwhile a "childhood friend-like" love, or a "pure" love, wouldn't create pheromones, since the woman is not actively trying to seduce the person (not in a sexual way, at least).

 

Seeing for the characters, Yadorigi is actively trying to seduce Sensei, so her body is creating pheromones when near him, getting stronger the more she wants to seduce him (when the other girls are nearby). Kitashiro, although interested in Sensei, is not actively trying to seduce him at all, therefore her body does not create pheromones and she does not sparkles. Shinonome-san only started sparkling when she actually stopped wondering about her theories and decided to invest in a relationship with Sensei (therefore her body is now trying to seduce him, since they aren't in a official relationship yet).

After meaning to for a while, just read through the whole thing. Just two thoughts: -I need that hamburger shirt yesterday -Could the sparkles be who they are currently putting their romantic attention towards? This could explain why Kitashiro never sparkles and Shinonome just started. Kitashiro doesn't think she can get him to go out with her, so even if she does like him she won't sparkle because she is not pursuing him. Shinonome just released what her interest in him was, so she didn't sparkle till now. This might also explain his misses earlier. The girls who weren't sparkling were focused on other things at the time or their boyfriend simply wasn't in the room. Remember, most the people we saw walking were with their boyfriends at the time. As for the teenagers, we all know how adolescent hormones are....
