Why would you root for Emden the Cuck (and I'm using that in its original meaning here)? Is there historical precedent for that? Gladiators, for instance, lost occasionally and just kept going; there aren't any that I'm aware of that went undefeated.

Also, isn't she overestimating her safety? Even today murder solving rates are below 50% are they not? And even lower for those cases where the victim did not know the killer. I doubt investigations back then would've been as good so the chance of someone killing her and getting away with it would have been even higher.
