Description: |
The basic story: a high school student (Nanase Hokuto) living away from his parents (who are in Australia) shares an apartment house with three older girls. His exposure to their whimsical and teasing nature leaves him pretty much despising females. However, the high-school idol (Taniyama Maina) ends up having a crush on him. Her best friend is Nakajima Atsumi, your typical sukeban. Hokuto's best friend, Moriyama Syuuichirou, is the young-punk biker. These two friends conspire to hook Hokuto up with Maina, much to Maina's delight and Hokuto's chagrin. Into this setting we interject the jealousy of the rest of the high school, a female rival for Hokuto's attention, a number of fights, the inevitable parents recalling Hokuto, and Maina threatening to run away from home. We could go on, but pretty much everything is in here. |

aww, this was so cute! the art was really quite charming, too!
Fun manga and a sweet ending. That 80's style art work was fantastic. It had a natural flow or feeling to it.
Thank you D & G Scans for finishing Jinrui Nekoka.
Are there any other works by mangaka Mizutani Naoki?
That was a great manga. I just read it for the first time, and it sure kept me laughing. What a real tragedy that such a talented mangaka passed away so young. I would definitely have loved to read more of his work.
A nice read, hate how it was cut short and a lot of plot was simply dropped, poor the housemate who never even showed her face.
I really enjoyed this, wistful is a very apt description.
I can't help but wish we learned a bit more about Makoto though, I was pretty much more interested in the side characters and their stories than the MC's girlfriend.
Sweet ending. But (wistful)--
I guess in old school manga you don't get a smooch?
Jinrui Nekoka

Thank you, Ton1x, and Dragon and Griffin Scans, for the work you've done in translating this manga.
This manga was a blast to work on, and I've enjoyed working with everyone I've met along the way. Mangaka Mizutani Naoki passed away in 1999 before ever seeing his work translated for an English audience. It's sad he can't see it, but I'm happy to be a part of bringing some of his work to new readers. So to Jinrui Nekoka, so long, and thanks for all the fish.
Moar pleez!
You're welcome, and sorry it comes kinda late. I would have had it up last week, but, well..... Starbound happened and all my free time last week mysteriously vanished
Thanks for the new chapter Braddock & co.!
This manga is from 80s... It's pretty much given that the characters are highly influenced by stereotypes in the pre-internet era (even though the internet has its own share of misconceptions dominating young and old minds alike).
Foreigners are all tall... what a misconception.
When I look around, most of the people here are relatively small (I'm 1,80 m and thus should be counted as small for a foreigner, but most people here in Europe are still smaller than 1,70 m, that's how those numbers come into live where it says : mean height 1,75m).
It's not that all foreigners are tall, instead more people over here are way taller than the average (1,85-2,10m) which makes the average height so much higher than in Asia.
Of course it is influenced by diet and genes, too, but I wouldn't call a man who's between 1,60m and 1,85m tall (although at those sizes the society becomes more hostile, less clothes to choose from, more non-apparent dangers in daily life[ small stairways steps, low ceilings/door frames, small seats/low desks, etc., just to name a few])...
errrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmm
(see earlier comment)
I'm still shipping Makoto.
take ur time on it dont mind this kind of guy. just dun drop it will be fine already and thanks for ur hard work
Jeez, what's with that guy. All these promises about making "attempts" to do it weekly, or "trying" to be faster. As if that idiot has any idea how difficult it is to put together a work like this. Especially when there's only a couple people working on it and real life can come along and throw a wrench into people's schedule at any time. What a jerk...
Pretty sure I noticed it too.
Wait..... I recognize your name....
*gasp* You're the guy that likes everything I like!
I quite like this story, but weak, naive, moronic, unappealing female MCs unless they display real emotional growth are best given back to the Shoujo/H mangakas who'll have them either trip-up-a-husband or torment them.
Only read up until chapter 9 but I prefer the "rival" girl to the main heroine
I'm so following this
Thinking of awakenings, in between all the overreactions did I see the mc start to realize his own feelings for her?
