I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but Shiratori is an okama who apparently cross-dresses as a girl once a month for drama club. I don't think there is a deeper gender questioning-related meaning to this activity, at the moment.

 

Added Note: As far as I gather, okama is a label for a Japanese stereotype where a man has a flamboyant and feminine personality and style, but is still typically considered a man. Is often translated as transvestite, but that may not be fully equivalent since the former was originally purely about cross-dressing, I believe. Seems to be often used as a degrading insult for a variety of assigned-male-at-birth persons to whom this label may or may not accurately apply to. Depictions/definitions involve cross-dressing, femininity, gender identity and homosexuality in various quantities depending on the context.

After reading a few chapters I'm not buying it. He's absolutely gay or at least bisexual. It's like if someone was to claim they were a vegetarian but still ate burgers because they like the combo of beef cheese and bread. But only that combo...Again I don't buy this at all.
