Description: | After the death of Mao's mother, who was called the "Fairy of Cuisine", Mao must strive to become a legendary chef himself, in order to take the title as head chef at his mother's restaurant. To do this, he must travel to China to learn the many ways of cooking. During his journey, he meets great friends and also fierce rivals. Chūka Ichiban! (中華一番!, lit. China's Number One!) is a manga created by Ogawa Etsushi. In 1997, it was adapted into an anime series directed by Anno Masami of the same name. From 1995-1997 it was published as Chūka Ichiban!. However, during the middle of its serialization, the character '真' was added, so from 1997 to 1999, it was serialized as Shin Chūka Ichiban! (真・中華一番!, Truth - China's Number One!). In some countries, the anime adaptation was called Cooking Master Boy. |

Ah, very true, I'll go with that. Thank you!
And lol, I agree it (best in china/China's #1) sounds cheesy xD
The "Shin" in the 2nd one, while usually means truth, can also means true/genuine.
In this context it's probably means THE REAL, like when a hero pass a test and the announcer goes "but THE REAL trial starts now" - -
Given the original name, Chuuka Ichiban (best in china/China's #1), it's a pain to adapt it to english without sounding really cheesy (the absolute best in china/ The true China's #1)
If we're sticking to the current title, just add THE in front should suffice .- .
Which is kinda how the plot one up the previous too
OH YES! UPDATE!! BLESS THE UPDATE!
I don't know but I love it! It certainly has that Chūka Ichiban! feel to it!
What on earth did I just read @.@
ive been watching longer than that, chinese version, luckily arrived at my country really fast when its out about few years ago, before AXN ever existed or my country can access it, but its stop viewing at the part they having cook-off on some ship or something
Damn trolling update
I thought it was January 1st, not April 1st.
On the very day my fridge contains fresh udon, no less!
Will eat some (instant) noodle tonight *drool*
I'm always starving after reading this @.@
I still remember, Catbug, I still do. Ahhh the 2nd season that never comes. I think Grander Musashi also stopped right at a friggin cliffhanger. You have no idea how many times I watched Rave (yet I keep missing the important episodes which are at the end of the anime).
ah this manga pretty good, the MC is a bit too hot headed but hes still pretty cool
lol the anime he doesnt look so fat, but this manga still good anyway
Remember when AXN showed Rave for the first time!? I loved it so much and then it ended at episode 54...the internet wasn't as popular back then and I kept on waiting for season 2...
Interesting that I saw in MU there are 2010 publications.
Only 5 more? Nah Catbug, I also watched it in AXN.. Man, I loved this show back then.. and I also watched Grander Musashi back then.. Remembered that?
Thanks Kosine for uploading chapters 8-10.
Now I can get back to translating this manga.
Today, I'll upload the first half of chapter 1...
It's split into four. >.<
