Just because of the Rikuo-scent thing? Or is it because Harumi Chihiro is known for mature content? The latter doesn't seem likely due to the role being just artwork this time.

 

The only other iffy things to see would be Kiriko's age, Momoko's relationship and some fetish outfits but those can be seen in plenty of series without mature rating and in sketchier context too.

 

To me it just seems like the usual innocent diabetes-inducing seinen romcom with some magic in the plot. Actually innocent would be an understatement, it was just plain pleasant to read.

 

I maybe missing something involving the magazine or something, but mature and ecchi? That totally gives off the wrong impression especially going by other stuff with the mature rating on the sites. If I am mistaken, then I apologize though.

As mentioned before, this series was pretty pleasant to read. For a seinen, it didn't really go too deep into things and therein lies the iffy bit. The series had little to actually offer to the market. The art was superb and engrossing, but the story? Well it was pleasing, but the tropes were just the same old ones on many a slice-of-life. I'm not saying the tropes were bad or anything, but on a marketing perspective, it didn't do much to propel the creative license involved in the introduction. The introduction established the magical aspect, but it was mostly an afterthought in succeeding events, with no reference to the bracelet breaking and subduing of Vanilla. It also brought in cohabitation, but that moved out of focus rather quickly. School life was definitely the highlight and outshone every other concept, but in the end it was just the usual for these kinds of series.

 

Now don't get me wrong, I am not putting this as 'bad', far from it. However, I do need to acknowledge that the expectations of the introduction weren't met and that events mostly progressed too swiftly to bear enough weight. Unlike some other series, I could have seen this series getting axed is what I'm saying, as sad as that thought is. Still, better for a pleasant read like this to exist instead of a bloated magical action series that teases various developments and then ends before revealing even a quarter of them. Yes, I am miffed at such action series that are axed either because of unappreciative kids or incompetent editors that do not realize the obvious flaws soon enough to refrain authors from setting up massive unknown developments too soon. Frankly I think some do it on purpose just to mess with the publishers.

Funny manga with shitty ending. 

Well, this manga sure was a lot of stupid-fun, even with the horribly cliche ending. That one actually made me laugh a bit.

Proof that Vanilla is love, Vanilla is life. o/

Another sort of cliffhanger'ish ending. :/

The ending is like :| The title should be "come come kiriko" if the ending is like that.. the oneshot was better that the actual series.

I guess the ending was okay.

I wanted more Rikuo x Vanilla though. Hopefully I'll come across a doujin to fulfill that wish...

Too rushed at the end, but still managed to pull a good ending. Wish it had been a bit longer nonetheless.

i am at loss, i do not know if this is goog manga or a bad manga, there were many good thigs with it but it had some flaws, also i think it was very rushed the last five chapters, so i have mixed feelings for this manga.

could have used more fluff, but still a good ending either way.

I need more Vanilla.
