But lurking in the shadows is a dark element ready to snatch that peace away. Sister Rosette Christopher, an exorcist working as a part of the Magdala Order, has a duty to fight the demons which appear and cause destruction.

But along with her companion Chrno, she usually ends up causing more destruction than the demons themselves! On one particular mission, they meet a young girl with a beautiful voice named Azmaria, who is being targeted by her own stepfather. As Rosette and Chrno work to save her, more is revealed about the relationship between them. There is more to these two than meets the eye.

I cried when I finished the manga and now I have almost all the volumes and I still feel my chest stinging when I read vol 8. The ending is just so sad, it's so hard to see one of your favorite character die, even if Rosette was happy.

The anime was crap no it is! Most of the characters act so OOC, Chrono is supposed to be more badass, but in the anime they portray him as a whimp, Satella behaved as a bitch and not the funny pedophile we all love. Aion was just acting like an insane dick! At least in the manga I liked him and I fell sorry for him.

As for Remington... way too much... seriously what the hell were they thinking? Also making Rosette into Mary's reincarnation, that just sucked, I like it more when she's just a regular fun girl, with a tomboyish, rash, lazy attitude. They even screwed up the kiss scene. ><

So the manga for me, it's just a million times better.

nah the manga>anime, i didn't think it was confusing at all xD i really loved this so much it made me cry waterfalls T-T
although the alien part was a little....O.o weird ....
anyways, i'm used to mangas which are much much much more confusing so maybe that's why i didn't think it was? i think having a little confusion in a manga makes it much more mysterious and interesting to read :3

for those that love this, also read immortal rain and alive the final evolution...they're both similar in certain aspects but different as well xD

Alive: The Final Evolution got such an amazing and deep ending because the author basically finished it on his deathbed, all to give closure to the story.

I think that's why the last chapters analysed concepts such as death and what it means to exist, or the purpose of one's existence.

I remember that sinking feeling when I realised that I had just read the man's legacy, and wouldn't be able to read anything else from him (it's a shame too that his only other manga hasn't gotten scanlated, too).

the anime was terrible and i saw it first. It was a bunch of filer like Trigun or Pumpkin Scissors

the manga brought a ton more to the universe in just 8 volumes and with their deaths being so heart wrenching. only second to Nick D Wolfwood

Whatever you guys like. I still prefer the manga over the anime version.

It's still a bitter sweet ending.

Spoiler

I think a lot of people liked the anime more because it was the first version they saw.

Mmm...Well compared to the Anime, the manga is quite inferior in almost every aspect.

The Manga as a stand alone is pretty awesome, great scenes and characters, but when compared to the Anime, the Manga is quite honestly...bad, the plot itself just gets really confusing with barely any explanation, Aion is either a fool or his objective was never explained, the scenes become predictable and kinda boring.

In addition the conclusion was the biggest amount of fail I've seen, the Anime is far better, but still I had some interest while reading this.
Both anime and manga are amazing. brings a tear to my eye every time. highly recommend this manga and the anime if you find it.
well.. what a spoiler... Boomisbored.. :P at least put some spoiler tag...
the ending was sad atleast Rosette and Chrno meet up in the afterlife :)
Aion in the anime is a d*ck, it was like he was born to be the bad guy, for no particular reason. And he is ridiculously strong, I felt like the anime was just like a torture to the main casts. Well, in manga, Aion has reason to be bad, at least it makes sense to me, so yeah, I enjoy the manga better. Both of the endings (anime and manga) are beautifully executed though, sad but touching.
the anime was very good but the ending was so sad it made me almost want to cry a little. never the less this is a very good story.
