It's more like a Japanese version of power rangers

But the power rangers source material (the majority of the footage) is from a couple of japanese super sentai shows and the first power rangers show used most of the footage from a show called Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger

and the white ranger footage was from a sentai series called Gosei Sentai Dairanger that aired like 2 yrs after the first one i mentioned.

So technically power rangers is more japanese than american,
