LoL, it's a shortcut for either time or bad artists. Same reason Trigun has desert backgrounds; he didn';t want to draw in backgrounds!
why are they always missing one eye
-Be a guy and a straight one at that, just wants to find out what it's like at the 'dark side'...
Seriously speaking, it's only the first chp, so I can't say a whole lot, but it actually seems interesting...
-Despite that overly pink cover, the style of the art is sort of rough, which fits the whole theme nicely.
-And the story goes a long way to establish these two as good pals, who are just a bit 'too' close, maybe. I hope it'll deal with this sort of thing properly, thinking about what it takes to face that part of yourself, how to break something like that to another guy, not to mention what to do with everyone else.
