Me encanto
The description may be short, but after reading the oneshot you'll realize how accurate it is.
Ah, I really like this one. Only 15-16 pages, but It had a simple yet well done symbolism idea and really the whole thing was executed quite well. I always dread the usual "omg i just met this guy and he makes my heart go doki doki what do i do" you see in most shoujo (ugh), because it seems like these girls literally think about nothing else and it gets really annoying, but Maiko's weird, perceived visual representations of being in love made it fun and added an interesting dimension/element to the romance.
Kinda funny because the summary description for this is (literally) "love blossoms in your face" but here it was more subtle than most of the shoujo you see out there that shove romance in your face so hard that it's an eyerolling cheeze-fest. When Maiko points out how many flowers she sees around Ichi, you see a bunch of little hearts around the flowers and that shows Ichi's very popular with the ladies without having to show them swooning and falling at his feet like you'd normally see (thank god).
Also, Ichi is the type of male lead I like seeing most in shoujo. He gets along well with Maiko and takes friendly, subtle jabs at her but he's not annoying and even though it's not immediately evident because he goes about it in a slightly gruff manner, he's actually a nice guy. Props to both the leads for being honest in their own ways as well.
She can see flowers on people in love, yet she can't see the flowers on the guy who's in love with her. I don't think her vision was ever real, but rather a way for her to deal with her conflicting feelings and denial. She subconsiously knows that her friend was in love with her, but she denied it and her mind came up with those flower imagery to avoid it. Still props to her for coming at him and tell him honestly how she felt. It wasn't a traditional "I like you" confession, but it sure as hell got her feelings to him and made him fall in love with her all over again.
Nice, cute, and engaging story. Stories like these are the reason I'm reading shoujo despite being a guy
It`s super nice and I think that it can be a good base for longer story.
This idea deserves some more work on it.
Shoujo always gives you that warm filing but this involves your thinking also, and I think that this is an inovation.
Simbols like this are common in art and I do not see why mangaka should not use it.
You do not have to be genious to understand it and it`s more fun this way.
Also emotions are always more vague than we would like to admit also are their interpretations.
So I think that simbols are just reliable as drama.
Best regards to the author and the uploader!
This is like some sort of moral protest in manga form against stories that drag on too long. It's a veritable 17 page long middle finger pointed straight at Seo Kouji. I have to like this manga for that reason alone.
Cute as it may be, the idea still kinda freaked me out. >.<
Thanks Delish for scanning this.
Very cute story and well done! I very much enjoyed it.
