Okay, so first off I want to ask: Why are people commenting what an irresponsible person the mom is for abandoning her son like that, yet no one's mentioned the neighbours and his lover doing nothing about it or even the dad himself being abusive in the first place?
Second, this is a plotless smut people. It ain't supposed to be realistic. So what if Taisuke's dad abuses him? The author obviously doesn't care. She's just using child abuse as a convenient plot device the same way some mangaka use rape. Does that mean you shouldn't care in real life? Of course not. But this is fiction, and it had some pretty good moments in it too.
Despite having nearly no proper dialogue, when the leads did have good conversations they really were *good*. Even if the romance was immensely rushed and all these two seemed to do was have sex, there were three or four scenes with actual important dialogue going on and I thought those were well done. Then of course there's the humour, which there is a fair bit of in this manga. For example, at the end of chapter four.
Spoiler
Tai-chan's satisfied face as he said the first words he ever truly spoke to his rival was utterly priceless.
I just think people should be commenting on other aspects of the manga, because the abuse really isn't the focus and having people act like it is feels unfair to the author somehow. Where are all the Bunya fangirls!? S/he's so fat and adorable the handful of times s/he shows up. S/he definitely deserves fangirls. (And boys!)

Only read the first few pages so far, but: WHAT KIND OF MOTHER LEAVES THEIR CHILD IN AN ABUSIVE HOUSEHOLD AND RUNS AWAY BY HERSELF?!

The weak kind.

A poor one?  Unfortunately, it is not only physically, emotionally, and financially fit people who become parents, right?  There ought to be a screening process.

I already see the headlines : Japan now has 0.01% births / per X because of parental screening. Martial law in effect, women forcefully impregnated to keep the country alive!
