Sometimes you don't need anything fancy, deep or complicated.

Sometimes it's okay to just be a fairly standard manga. Generic or tropey manga can be problematic or boring or annoying to read or whatever but if it isn't any of those things but isn't stellar or amazing...isn't that okay too?

Oh that was a pretty rushed reveal. Can't see this lasting much longer. After reading Freaks and rereading the first few chapters I get the impression Takaki wants to do more far out premises but editors are forcing him to make a generic battle shonen.

This art is genuinely amazing, I love the detail put into it

People keep shitting on this yet they read all the mainstream shit that has over 30 volumes...I'm still liking this so far so EHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Ditto lmao

If you want read Bakuman so you can understand what it means to create a story and how the experience will helo create something better in the long run.

I guess we can support authors that we think can learn and gather more experience the more they wright, but it's hard to avoid encouraging doing same stuff over and over again. *Cough*MichaelBay*caugh*. Feedback is important.

Alright shut the fuck up. We need the best quality scan of the volume cover asap

the new cover really has the majestic feeling from the stocking, thigh and ass....

I honestly wanted to like this series. I mean, expressions are fine and so are characters...

But the plot is so much shonen action cliche.

It's what it is, the author seems capable of more but for some reason he can't break the standards, that's why I think the industry should rely more on professional writers. I wouldn't expect more for this type of work.

But sometimes I wish I could erase 15-20 years of memories and be capable of enjoying this kind of mangas once again. A kid who's starting to read manga might find this one a blast.

"Ordinary" guy with certain quirk or talent meets with demi-human characters and in a struggle forms a bond with it. Soon after he encounters mysterious organisation, wich at first posed as antagonistic to him, but in the end invited him to fight together in morally ambiguous, but actually pretty black and white fight with obvious evil. He encounters female lead obvious love interest character of varying (but steadily decreasing) usefuleness and srong but stubborn rival character that serves the purpose of getting you pumped up for MC's fights and dealing with side bosses of enemy, that gradually evolves into morally ambiguous, but actually obvious evil/misguided mysterious organisation.
Do I even need to read about what happens next?
P.S. Pop quiz: name five titles with the same plot. You can name ten for extra cookie and plus cookie for every two after that.
P.P.S. None the less, I liked Omamori Himari and Tsugumomo.

Is not that being a typical shounen setting is bad, not everyone has the talent of raw luck of creating a complex story from the start. You can go with a simple story to gain experience and go safe, or you can create a hxh level story with complex characters and great powers; which may or may not flop if they don't know how to pace themselves.
Although everyone would love to read great complex stories only a few authors could make, but not everyone know how to without testing the waters first.

So after ripping off Bleach, they're ripping off Naruto. Is there anything original in this series? I feel bad for shitty glasses, he doesn't even have his own backstory really.

you know there's literally thousands over other series besides those two with similar premises that long existed far before those series did? Don't say something fucking ripped something off

I mean I guess, it doesn't make much sense because everything wants to try be the next naruto or bleach. Im not saying originality isn't good but  if people usually enjoy these types of series they'll want something similar.

>its okay officer she's actually 1000 years old

Seems oddly cliche but not too cliche that it's unbearable, it holds promise

Yeah, it has potential to become a decent manga.

The author needs to expand more on the world between mononoke and humans before facing the protagonists against the real conflict/antagonist of the story, which has yet to be properly established.

And the dialoges are so fucking reduntant some times, it's constantly used to point out what X character is going to do next or how they feel about the situation. More than half of the dialoge in this manga is pretty much unnecessary, we already know you are angry no need to point it out all the time.

The first chapter and the premise of a guy who can talk to animals was a lot more interesting than the generic Bleach rip off. Shitty Glasses is so painfully cliche.

And it seems the author already forgot the MC can talk to animals, outside of certain situations where he needs a clever way to escape.

I came for the action, stayed for the loli.

Wait hold on that's not what I meant

Also the mangaka is definitely an ass-man, and I have no complaints with that

Just to put this in before anybody else does, the black beast is obviously Rahu's former self.

Honestly, the new character saved this chapter because the rest is so by the book that it hurts

Quick, shove all your backstory in! We don't have time, do it now!

We've been going for cheap exposition the whole story, why not double down right now?

The legendary black beast of ARGH?!
