Welp. Sometimes I want to throw up my arms with a "what even are these characters' motivations? They make no sense." I have a feeling that even if I knew their motivations, I still wouldn't understand how they quantify their thought patterns lol. But hey, I'm only halfway through?

I have to say that the male leads look really similar except for different hair colors lololol. And as always, they're somewhat rapey with really weirdly possessive views on women. I mean, whatever turns on the shoujo crowd *shrug*. The main guy gets better, though. And the couple is sweet on each other, which is nice. Most importantly, the girl isn't the type of shoujo heroine I hate, haha. It's something! Probably not reread material, but read material.

That secondary lead is definitely twisted.  His personality isn't that believable, but I gotta give chops to the mangaka for following through on his characterization--there's a tendency in manga that when you have extravagant characters with bad-but-interesting personalities, you pretty much leave them flat, more like magnificent artifacts than actual characters.  Here they're going into what drives the guy, and even if it's kind of silly it adds a dimension and shows the mangaka is making a bit of effort.

Huh, I remember this one-shot (ch 19.1, "Love Period").  To me it's almost the classic rendition of the "fake going out" trope.  I'm sure it'd been done before, and it's sure as hell been done plenty since, but there's something archetypal about this one.  On one hand, it's nicely rendered--but what I mean by archetypal is it's so pure, played right down the middle with no twists or extra elements.  This is the base from which variations can be done.

Actually, I think it's kind of fun.  It's old school, for sure--definitely from a particular era in shoujo manga.  It's not sweating the realism and it's running hard with some shoujo cliches that these days are hard to use unless you're playing around with them or sending them up.

But if you accept that and go with it, as I say it's fun.

Reread it all... Now I remember why it was so unmemorable... Eugh

I have no memory of this at all. Five years . . . lotta manga under the bridge since then. But I must have liked it OK at the time. Guess I should have a look.

Lol yeah we only did this title because a reader requested it awhile back and there were only a few volumes left. =)

In my opinion its good, not more, not less. Just give it a try.
