| Description: | Yukikaze is just a young girl but her and her friends have the incredible responsibility of being the naval force of her nation. As part of Seiran Team 3 of the Wadatsumi naval base, Yukikaze and her female friends, Isokaze, Nowaki and Takao, all attend the naval academy. But in this world, they do not work on ships, instead, they themselves are the weapons, able to travel across oceans at high speeds and engage in warfare using their equipped artillery. When an enemy nation attacks the base to take control of an important strategic point, only Yukikaze is left standing and all hope seems lost when a beautiful woman named Taiwa appears with the secret weapon to defend Yukikaze and the naval base. |

Well....
Aside from strike Witches, the naming convention of Yukikaze (World War 2 Ship as well as JMSDF ship) the use of rigging, the running over water, and other world war 2 like elements have a remarkable similarity. Further, the timing coincides with the initial work being done on Kancolle in the form of art released at the time. The fact that aside from Strike witches, the only other possible analog is Saikano, though even that downplays the actual war in exchange for the home front, the similarities are rather stark. It's rather new territory in terms of manga and anime, so the fact that there are exactly 2 examples besides strike witches (Which technically doesn't count since they aren't taking on the persona of old world war 2 aircraft, but rather using attached tech that has no further semblance) is remarkable.
Now, to be fair, this does play into the larger anthropomorphization of everyday objects or concepts. Like the OS girls that was big back in the mid 2000's or so. However, even that didn't result in a franchise that spans browser games, chinese knock offs, it's own official manga, an anime, a movie, and a second season and possible light novels to say nothing of figurines and a world wide following.

Why people always think that everything about shipgirls are related to Kancolle....
...I was shocked at how similar the Yukikaze here and Kancolle's Yukikaze. ...well, their clothes at least.
I'm pretty sure this was the prototype for Kancolle.... or that's just on me...
they need to get this translated but you know it will only if a anime is made.
