This feels like the grandfather of Bartender. Loved it.

Thanks for update!

I've had the "Jun" shochu shown in this chapter.  Mine was 35%, not 20%, though.  A nice little connection for me.

Thanks for update!

In the translation notes it says Suntory still uses the term "pure malt", iirc they don't, they use "single malt". I believe Nikka does though for the Takesuru line of "vatted whiskeys"

Hey Scarletedalice!  Thanks so much for the note.  That's not the information my research produced, but I'll go back again and triple check it!!!

EDIT:  Thanks.  You're right.  I was using JP websites for research.  Either the websites are wrong, or there's different labeling.  I'll delete that portion of the note.  Thanks so much for catching that.  :)

EDIT 2: Fixed!  Cheers!

For a manga this old, it's pretty amazing how they know all these information. You need to have passion for drinks. Also, I just found out that this is still ongoing and it has been adapted to a live action drama series.

Didn't really expect a chapter full of beer trivia. I don't drink but it's pretty interesting.

Any Germans or beer master to verify the information? Quick google check tells me that they are true, just want a verification.

Well, just as an FYI, I checked all brewing-related information against American Beer Association literature (https://www.brewersassociation.org/), used the version of the Code of Hammurabi translated by the venerable L.W. King, and then had Germany-related information double checked by our German cleaner/typesetter.  The Japanese name for the German Purity Law (which does exist!) actually contains an extra word tin Japanese hat he helped excise from the English version.  And he indicated that the number of breweries in Germany now is only about 1,400, as opposed to the 2,000-plus figure from the 1980's Bar Lemon Heart cites.  (Though I haven't independently verified the new figure.) Remember that the first volume of this manga contains chapters that came out FOREVER ago.  Hehe.

So thanks to Baem for that.

I see a manga with a homey feel like this and I immediately know it's One Snowshoe's work. :P Thanks for the translation.

Thanks so much for this! One snowshoe delivers again! <3

I first saw excerpts of this in "Japanese the Manga Way." Darn right I'm going to follow this.

Ditto.  Seemed interesting then and I'm glad someone is taking the trouble to scanlate it.

I did a double take seeing this in the updates list.  I'd given up even finding raws for this, let alone a scanlation.  Followed.

Rare theme in manga's, I only know Bartender. Well, thanks for translation!
