The US police force can't become corrupt, though. As in politics, they legalized a lot of the stuff that would normally be considered "corruption", so now they do it and there's no problem. For instance, in other countries corrupt police take your stuff or your cash; in the US, they have "asset forfeiture laws" which allow them . . . to take your stuff or your cash, on "suspicion", without charging you with a crime much less convicting you, all legal and above board. Presto! Corruption gone!
In fact, they succeeded in kidnapping a little girl--she just got taken away from them again. And I can't remember what they were going to do to her, but I don't think it was happy stuff.

The darkness of the story is surprising considering the art style and the alleged theme of an odd-ball pair living to together. This latest chapter with Akame's past is actually rather intense.

money can grease wheels like nobodies business... its not hard to believe a police organization can become corrupt... especially considering the dangers they go through by doing their jobs normally... think about it, all the rewards of normal service plus bribes...all you have to do is sell your conscience and lets be honest, theres alot of people who would do that in a heartbeat
