Oh come on! At the very least you have to appreciate the amazing artwork. Yes it clearly depicts elements of a drug-trip and really comes across more as a visual poem than a coherent plot, but that in doesn't mean it should be dismissed as pretentious otherwise you might as well say that Moebius (and everything from the seventies i guess) is just pretentious and irrelevant. I'd recommend everyone to page this through, enjoy the visuals and put as little or much thought into it as they want.

You have nailed it. It's true that everything that comes from an artist is most of it for self satisfaction, and therefore "pretentious", but in this case is also very beautiful and inspiring.
