Argh. This storyline frustrates me, but it's well done.

Whether or not this is yaoi is open to interpretation...the MC still probably thinks of himself as a guy, but he's biologically more of a hermaphrodite. 

 

Overall the story is pretty interesting.  There's sci-fi, and intercultural (or rather, interspecies) conflict.  Though it's sad that the MC gets treated according to the "law of the wild" and keeps getting raped.  Which is consistent with the point of the story, but it's still unfortunate.

@Unsung: Technically no. The main character was biologically male but was used as a scientific experiment, that alters his gender without his knowledge. You can think of this as a hermaphodite, although the scenes are very much like yaoi, the mc technically female.

I recommend this series for people whom prefers to read something a little different from the norm and is very open minded.
The series spans over a few arcs, the story telling get progressively better after each arc.
The themes behind this series are so vast, touching upon natural selection, origin of life, human existentialism, human growth and behavioural patterns in contrast to animals, fate, etc.
There is a few things I would like to warn the viewers before reading or bashing this series...

1) Characters within this series does not have the same common sense as humans (later explain in the series). Thus killing, massacre is very trivial for them since they follow the rules of survival of the fittest.

2) This series contains rape quite often, although never explicit, its something the MC goes through for good reason.
Explain from the very beginning of this series, the MC was never really assertive. As the story progress, MC goes through a journey becoming stronger in areas but may still contain many weakness. Each time, he/she made an decision, he/she had to bare consequences of doing so.
He is a perfect example of imperfection and anxiety in humans, this is also essential for this series.

3) Also there may be many inconsistency or illogical events that are relatively minor to the entire plot. Please refer back to 1 and try to reason that out. If you still cannot accept that for a good reason...
In order to fully enjoy this series, my best suggestion is to try to see the grand scheme of things rather than getting caught up in too much detail.

Please don't be too quick to dismiss this series due to certain events and happy reading =)
This is a great story, with may trials ahead, to simply survive in life , learn what it means to love and struggle to attain happiness.
