Granny's philosophy has its merits, however I prefer a slightly different approach.

Is it just me or does the grandma's diving gear in her youth look too modern? I don't want to dismiss the possibility that scuba gear has not improved much in the last 50 years (I'm a layman) but shouldn't the gear look more primitive? More metal elements and less plastic ones?

Honestly, except for the flippers and maybe the content gauge, it looks pretty much like 1970s dive equipment. You'd really need to go back to the '60s to see more metal; although black plastics and rubber might be more common. The flippers are definitely too modern in design, though.

Or can we associate this discrepancy to the fact that this is pretty much a fairytale (e.g. the dream chapters or even wayback Aria was pretty much a fairytale too)?

Enough of that. Loved the chapter, especially their robes xD

Actual scuba diving? In my Amanchu? How dare you, Amano sensei.

"Oki"? No wonder everyone prefers the nickname.

oh new girls interesting

Are we stuck with this dream crap, or will we get back to the main story focus soon?

I haven't looked to see if there are Raws beyond volume 9 myself.
But honestly you could just about end the story right there and it would feel like a perfect ending.

Well . . . a pretty dashed good ending.  For me, a perfect ending would involve Dotty and Pikari getting married.  Not that anything like that is going to happen, it's just, if we're on the subject.

That's my take after this chapter.

Anything that comes next will be seen as a delightful treat to me...

So great seeing chapters translated and released so close together. I looked ahead in the raws and can't wait to see them translated to really find out what is happening.

These chapters have really connected this and the world of Aria. It just has that few hundred years separating them.

AH!!!!!!!! Peter X Mato is finally sailing in the sky! CaitSith Best shipper!

Hmm. Interesting twist at the end there....

Amano consistently surprises me with her storytelling, and the end of volume 9 here is no exception.

Thanks so much for the release!

When Aria neared its ending, the surreal and supernatural started happening more and more often. I know this series ain't too terribly close to ending, but I can't help but feel a little anxious.

God, so many familiar names and faces, though! I love it!

we're still two volumes behind the raws, no worries

Y'know, I'm going to bet right now that:

Just to beat this little OT conversation to slightly more thorough death, I'd like to note that

As I'd earlier mentioned my point of view was briefly informed by a short if necessarily shallow review of available internet articles concerning pre Tolkien fantasy literature. My intent regarding 1920's american fantasy pulp fiction was meant to highlight the existence of the earlier market for this form of fiction, regrettably the depth of my search ignored technical details as to whether this had actually any direct influence on Tolkien's works.

On the upside I now have a few more earlier age authors and historical mythology to pursue in my spare time.

Amano universe confirmed?

It's all one continuous story...

Amano universe confirmed?

bits of it are a little slow however, LOTR was the work of a lifetime and created much of the mainstream fantasy genre though even his works came out of a contemporary popular middle ages magazine pulp fiction culture from the 20s onwards. the shadows of the Two world wars warfare of industrial scale killing and superweapons lie heavily.

Ah no! Don't end the chapter there I need more!. Two months between updates is going be hell to wait.

Huh?
I'm sorry but did I stumble into the drawing board for How Aria and Cait sith began or something?

After Aria I'd have never though I'll drop a manga by Amano, but I just don't care anymore about this one.

its alwys interesting whenever amano does a surreal chapter like this.

Even back in aria everynow and then these fantasy magic thingys would appear everynow and then and it would be all whoaaaaaaaaah
