Description: Touzuka High School is a public school with a pretty low grade point average. One day, a girl who has been expelled from the state’s top school, St. Katria Girls’ School, transfers in… her name is Kawai Maria. The reason for her expulsion was “violence against the teacher.” Because of her non-adorned, straight comments, Maria starts to become isolated from her class… What is hidden in her past and what will happen to her?

Lmfao, the comments are a trainwreck.

This series is far from perfect, but you guys are giving it way more flack than it deserves. Sure, Maria's reaction to John Cross having changed--at first, it was believable, and then it was rushed too fast with her attitude changing towards him making a 180. But I understood the whole point of the sinner being given redemption (thus the meaning in Amazing Grace).

Believe it or not, people can change--and Cross had well over a decade to change. Of course, what Kurosu did was still completely inappropriate.

Comparing it to 50 Shades of shit is rather unfair. The point isn't forgiving Cross--and I don't think Maria forgives him--she's just moving on. And John himself says "I have never thought about being forgiven. I will continue to repent" in the start of v12.
It was a much touchier topic for Japanese audiences, since rape from US soldiers on Japanese women are a very real issue. I'm Chinese (CBC), and the Japanese did exponentially worse to us in 1945, so I would understand the outrage in this depiction more than some white feminist (unless they've been a victim themselves), anyway.

As for the "it's never allowed to be anyone's fault"--so say that people are blamed--then shunned. Then what? That doesn't fix anything. (re: earlier arcs) Maria wants people to gather in her circle--so she's keeping the gates open on her world. She's resolved every conflict with a peaceful ending--and while that isn't realistic--the point is emphasizing that people can resolve many conflicts through understanding, communication, and accepting differences in others (like with the earlier arcs--not the later). Bullies are awful, but they're also people. What's wrong with things not being black and white?

--Sincerely, a tumblrian who detests apology rape.

Just started reading this and I just wanna say Maria's lips have got to be one of the fattest lips I've ever seen in any manga. It's like she's got a permanent duck face.

This thing with having a character that's an athlete/a musician/an artist/etc getting some injury that makes them unable to do the thing they were good at and then they have massive amounts of drama and such, is such a boring plot device, imo. Of course that stuff happens in real world to real people, but usually when an aspiring, just for example, pianist quits chasing his/hers dream of becoming professional, it's usually not because of some fatal injury to their hand, but the harsh reality of this world (for example you're not good enough or you just don't have the resources and you have to get a job to live). For me it's just dull to read these kinds of stories, because the characters don't get the depth that they need and deserve. I've faced the same problem with many books written for young adults, maybe I'm just becoming old ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ

It allows them to give the characters conflict while still letting them be "perfect" - i.e., almost superhuman at their talent/passion.  Like you, I think it's a cheap way of giving conflict.  However, Meguro's anxieties and psychological issues are NOT as cliche, and of all the stories dealing with this sort of "false-conflict," it feels more human because the false-conflict begot a much more real-to-life conflict, that of the social anxieties and giving up on himself to the point that he pushes the woman he loves away.

Thanks for the new chapter.

*hiss* Stop doing stupid things!

Maria needs to bitchslap her boyfriend to knock some sense into him.

It's all been amazingly dim, but I have to admit I forgive large amounts of it just for things like that ch. 78 cover picture of Maria.  Yum!

He's such....HE'S SUCH A MORON!!!! Relationships don't circle around showing people your best sides; if you have the best intentions for your loved ones you show them all sides of you. Your bad sides, good ones, etc. Author *shakes fist* There's far too much drama for this poor girl. If she doesn't get a break any time soon she's gonna break in the worst ways possible....

i remember when i used to adore this manga

oh how times change

Why am I even still here -_-" But what the hell, I read all the 50 shades books, might as well continue this train wreck too -_-

So what do you think it's a tasteful thing to do for an ex-criminal to make amends to his victims?

Staying the fuck away from them would be a good start.

Okay, so your mother's rapist fell in love with your mother through the letters she sent him after giving birth to you, the product of said rape, and you think it's a great idea to drag him to your estranged grandparents, presumably for some kind of emotional conclusion. Oh, and the guy became a priest and named a church after you and your mother, like you're actually his long lost loving family he's trying to make amends to, because that's a perfectly sane and acceptable and tasteful thing to do and completely within his right as your biological father.

I'm sorry, what?

There are so many things wrong here I don't even know where to start

This manga likes creating drama just for drama's sake.  I thought this awhile back when I dropped this series and after reading the latest chapter on a whim, I stick to my opinion.

Drama's the whole base of this manga.

This is such a stupid manga...I can't believe the stupidity of it all... It makes me so mad.

/just read chapter 75

..........

What the entire fuck is going on in this shit-piled, rape apologist series

Ugh. I think now is a good time to drop this manga.

Yes. Yes, I think I'll do that right this instant.

... lol.

Hm.

Incidentally, the manga's trolling too . . . give me a break.

Spoiler
Fuck that bullshit.  Point one, if someone screwed me I don't have to forgive them just 'cause they were nice to someone else.  The someone else can be nice to them back, it's not my problem.  Point two, hella unrealistic.  Not how the world works.  And point three, I'm getting really annoyed at the way this manga bends itself into pretzels to have people constantly victimized and emotionally damaged, but somehow it's never allowed to be anyone's fault and nobody ever has to take responsibility.

Exactly. And it's only getting worse from there.

Ugh. I think now is a good time to drop this manga.

And here i thought that this chapter would have ended on a happy note. God i was wrong.
