I'd love to see it become a big work. Truck-kun is awesome btw.
I wish the author would try to expand this idea into a big work. I see it as a no-action story with emphasis on psychology, kafka-style, much refreshing in the sea of isekais.

Well, probably that's not going to happen. But if you can advice me a manga like that, I'd appreciate it.

I see this as a short Isekai deconstruction which only takes a couple of minutes at most to read and the message is clear, if something like this could happen to a person, the odds are it will be someone like the MC of this short story, someone who fails to take advantage of the new life and power they are given, thus ending up even more of a loser than they were in their home world.

The only difference I would have made to this story is that due to the fact he is from another world, his body will likely contain pathogens which in our world might be harmless but in this new world cause a major epidemic or conversely he catches the Isekai version of the common cold but due to him being from a different world, this Isekai Common Cold causes him to become critically ill and die soon afterwards.

True words. Heroes are Heroes because they are Heroic. It doesn't matter if you are given cheat skills, you are incarnated into the body of the hero, lack of powers, incarnated into a mob character, incarnated into a villain, or whatever.

OK, serious question (not sarcasm): I see 247 people are following this one-shot. Why would someone "follow" something that was finished as soon as it was posted?

sometimes those get serialized and either gets updates or there will be a kind soul showing up with a link to the series.

I feel like the discussions about this are a little skewed. It isn't an issue or comment on his powers, how he can use them, or his willingness to use them. It's a comment or jab at the mentality of most average everyday workers in society, settling into a comfortable pattern and being afraid of change or challenging it. Whether or not his powers can sufficiently protect him isn't really what he's scared of, it's stepping into the unknown.

With that, I can agree. I have the same feelings about other fantasy settings, like those Chinese immortal-cultivation, Xianxia stories. I frequently see people post their zeal to be in such a world where they can do similar supernatural training regimes. But in actuality, you can bet your ass nobody would actually dare to do so. It's a whole different case if you literally just auto-learn everything ("all-magic-cheat"), but if you'd have to exercise actual effort to get anywhere while risking your life to see any form of result...Nope, no way.
As you said, there's a reason why mediocrity exists.

Because sometimes a one-shot becomes an actual series.

Also, you can filter out followed stuff from search with a script. And it's a handy way to keep track of stuff you've read.

This have got to be one of the most realistic isekai yet.

Honestly I never joined the army for the same reason as the protag in this story.  It's scary and dangerous, you could die and you may have to kill.  Unless I had no other choice I wouldn't volunteer for that.  I'd probably get the same job as I had in this world. I'm a professional chef, every one has to eat so I imagine after getting used to other world ingredients I would make a good living. Yes, I would use any extra money I earned for magic lessons, because why not? But not everyone can be heroic, a slice of life is more my speed.

You have the "use any magic you want" thing, go learn how to use magic instead of looking for equipment... magic can be used even if you will never enter a fight, just gain money healing people with full heals or shit.

I get that it's a one-shot (and good thing too; a series would get awfully repetitive).

I still feel kind of bummed that this is only six pages.

You could get more material out of this. I've seen longer one-shots.

It's a short story from a guy who posted on his twitter. Of course a featured oneshot is going to be longer.

What the fuck is wrong with most of you guys?

This story didn't really need to make sense, and I'm fine with it, but I really don't see how my reasoning is flawed.
For all means and purposes, the story tells us our MC is the strongest creature on the planet, if not one of the top 1%. There is almost nothing that can threaten him. I.E: No reason to be afraid.

But even if the MC is just really scared of fighting anything and doesn't believe in his own abilities (which is understandable), since he is literally the master of all magic ("use all magic cheat"), he can just create a bunch of OP barriers and other magical conveniences, and isolate himself from the world. Bam. Problem solved. No need to be a wage-slave, and the entire story's point is lost within its own flaws.
But, again. I think this one shot just tries to take a jab at Isekai without thinking too hard about it, and that's totally fine as well. I am just surprised at the discourse that this thing is receiving.

Well there is a difference between being able to cast something and being able to control it... Imagine what would happen if he did use a spell but it would go rampant ? If he is oh so mighty it could even kill him without leaving him a chance to try to protect himself :/

I am just surprised at the discourse that this thing is receiving.

It's because we're bored. I'm so bored I translated a new chapter of another bad isekai manga last night - and I don't even have a kindergarten-level grasp of Japanese.

Bad comparison. So being OP makes you immune to all the negative consequences of fighting? Flawed logic m8. Logic aside (lel), protags reasoning decided his actions.

The only thing I can rant about this thing, is that the MC seems to have "OP magic ultimate power", but he's not using his gift because "he's afraid he'll get hurt". That makes as much sense as being afraid to spend money, when you know you have unlimited funds.

Truck-kun pick a wrong person to send to an alternate world. I hope his boss didn't fire him or something.

So much discussion for what is otherwise just a really short joke / jab at the Isekai genre. Does anyone actually take this thing seriously?

That makes as much sense as being afraid to spend money, when you know you have unlimited funds. The only saving grace this thing has, its its length. Because nothing was really established, we have no idea to know what is his "OP cheat" actually means. Maybe because he doesn't know the world's language, he cannot use any form of magic as well.

But, as I said, this is just a short story about OP isekai actually not being OP. I thought it was cute enough as a basic joke that's not really trying that hard to make sure it has no flaws. It's good enough as it is, imo.
(Unless, this thing is actually not a one-shot, in which case, it's truly the bottom of the barrel.)

P.S: I just noticed the "It's heartbreaking!!!!!" title. Indeed, that is disgustingly cringy. Maybe it works better in Japanizo.

every year, thousands of regular people are hit by trucks in Japan, and forced to be reincarnated in a cliche Isekai fantasy manga.

don't be one of those, protect yourself all the times, be extra careful when crossing streets, look both sides and never trust a truck driver to not run over you.

be safe, never trust trucks.

never

The Isekai Gotham Needs is one where average guys from the other world accidentally get sent here, and become violently ambitious salarymen with highly specific and unsuspected otherworld skills.

Tfw you realize this had better character development than some isekai
